Mamdani: Harlem Housing Equity
Meet Me At City Hall: We've been ignored by Mamdani Deputies on Housing Equity
The Mayor’s team has ignored 2 communications from our Interfaith Commission on Housing Equality since January 12th. As you all know, we’ve been protesting the Project One45 coming to 145th Street & Malcolm X BLVD to make it affordable for residents who make between $35,000 and $65,000 per year.
We can afford that via a housing subsidy from the Mayor and have negotiated a agreement with the developers to get that. This is bigger then one housing development, it is about the price that will be set for future developments like Lenox Terrance on 135th and others. More than 60,000 Black people have been displaced from Harlem because of the housing choices by previous administrations. Right now, Mayor Mamdani’s administration is ignoring us, and we are planning to meet at City Hall next Tuesday March 3rd at 2PM to make our voices heard. Join us.
We need you all to send a letter or email to City Hall using the template below.

Dear Deputy Mayor Su and Bozorg,
My name is (WRITE YOUR NAME HERE) I am a concerned resident requesting a response to letters sent on Jan 12, 2026 from The NY Interfaith Commission For Housing Equality. The letter seeks your assistance in supporting subsidies for residents earning between minimum wage ($34,320) and $65,000 per year, enabling the primary workforce to afford rents in the proposed One45 development. Uptown residents are running out of time and unless there is government intervention, more displacement will happen in Harlem. Central Harlem has lost over 30,000 Black residents between 2018 and 2022. The development precedent set by this administration on the One45 project will have a major impact on the future of Harlem, Washington Heights, and working class New Yorkers throughout the city. Harlem NEEDS A WIN and it starts with this project!
Members of the Interfaith Commission would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this issue with you in detail. We would be honored to welcome you to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church for a detailed discussion on this essential issue.
Best,
(WRITE YOUR NAME)
